Congress postponement: 2 - 5 February 2021

Is my registration fee valid for the new dates in February 2021?
Yes, your registration will be applied to the new dates.

My registration was managed by a sponsor or agency, what should I do?
Contact your group leader who will be responsible for managing your registration.

Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the congress in February 2021, can I be reimbursed?
Should you not be able to attend, we will be able to provide a full refund upon request.

I cancelled my registration but I will be able to attend on the new dates, what should I do?
Please contact the Registration Team ([email protected]) to discuss reinstating your registration.

What should I do with my hotel booking?
Your hotel booking will automatically be moved to the new dates corresponding with your current booking, for example if your current booking is 21/09/2020 (first day of congress – old dates) – 23/09/2020 your new booking dates will be 02/02/2021 (first day of congress – new dates) – 4/02/2021.

Hotel, airline company or travel agency did not accept to reschedule or reimburse my booking for free, will the congress reimburse me?
Unfortunately, the congress is not in a position to provide reimbursements for flights.

Should I book or change my flights now?
In light of the current global COVID-19 situation, we would advise waiting until August to book flights as there will be an update on travel restrictions, and we anticipate that more airline routes and fares will be available at that time. If you have already booked flights, please check with your airline or travel agent.

The new congress dates are February 2021, will my VISA be still valid on those dates?
Please check your VISA outcome provided by home affairs for validity dates. Unfortunately, you may have to apply for a new VISA should this fall outside the postponed congress dates.

I have a presentation scheduled during the congress, what will happen with it?
It is still too early to know exactly how the program of the postponed meeting will look. We will let you know by the end of August whether program changes will affect your presentation.

Can I change my abstract before the new congress dates?
Abstracts selected for presentation cannot be changed, however there is the opportunity to submit new work in the Clinical Trials in Progress/Late Breaking Results category. Please sign up to our mailing list and we will contact you when Abstract Submissions for this category opens.

Visa and Insurance

All travellers to Australia (except Australian and New Zealand citizens) must have a valid visa before arriving in Australia. At a minimum, you should apply for your visa 6 weeks before you intend on arriving in Australia.

After you have registered for the congress, you will receive an acknowledgment letter you can use as a supporting document to assist with your visa application.

Once you’ve registered and received your acknowledgement letter from the congress, use the Australian Government’s Visa Finder to determine the right visa for you.

Getting to MCEC

The congress venue is easily accessible via tram, train, bus, or taxi/uber. You can also arrive to MCEC by car, with plenty of convenient and secure parking options available in and around the convention centre. Please visit the MCEC website for further information.

Climate

The average temperature in Melbourne during September is around 17 to 20 degrees celcius, so don’t forget to pack a jacket for your trip!

Language

The primary language of English is spoken within Australia, but more than 100 languages are spoken by residents of Melbourne. The official language of the congress is English.

Currency

The Australian Dollar (AUD) is the currency and tender of Australia. You can exchange foreign money before your trip, at the airport upon arrival or at one of Melbourne’s currency exchange outlets conveniently located around the city.

Most major credit cards are accepted in hotels, shops and restaurants. VISA and MasterCard are accepted at the congress registration desk. Amex or personal/company cheques are not accepted at the registration desk.
