Tom Hugh is Chair in Surgery at the Northern Clinical School, University of Sydney, and head of the Upper GI Surgical Unit at Royal North Shore Hospital. His clinical interests include the management of patients with benign and malignant liver disease, gallbladder disease and abdominal wall hernias. He is passionate about clinical audit and is responsible for establishing and embedding prospective total practice audit in the Upper GI Surgical unit at RNSH. He developed and introduced the novel idea of establishing a dedicated Surgical Audit Unit (SAU) for the Division of Surgery at RNSH. His main clinical research focus is on long-term outcomes after resection for colorectal liver metastases.
